What Is the Generic Equivalent of Zestril?
Zestril was approved for prescription use in the United States in 1987. Shortly afterward, the pharmaceutical company Zeneca (now known as AstraZeneca) gained patent protection for Zestril. This patent expired in 2002, making the generic equivalent of Zestril widely available for a lower price. What Is Zestril?
Zestril is a drug used to block the enzyme that causes high blood pressure. Untreated high blood pressure may result in strokes, heart attacks, and kidney dysfunction. Zestril works to prevent these serious health issues.
